Foreigner Registration Card Issuance Guide
- Integrated Application Form (1 copy, available at the Immigration Office).
- Certificate of Enrollment (Automatically printed from the certificate machine at the Humanities Building in Seung Hak Campus or the Comprehensive Lecture Hall in Bu Min Campus).
- Passport.
- Copy of Visa
- Passport-sized Photo (3.5 x 4.5cm) - Ensure the correct size.
- Fee of 30,000 KRW.
Extension and Change of Visa (Stay Period)
- Visa (Stay Period) Extension Documents - Students with a GPA of 2.0 or higher

Changing from D-4 to D-2 Visa
- Application form (refer to attached file)
- One passport-sized photo with a white background (4x5 cm) –> This should be a new photo, different from the one on your existing alien registration card and passport.
- Copy of your passport
- Original alien registration card (if applicable)
- Certificate of residence (refer to attached file) – Students residing in Seokdang Global House can obtain this from there.
If your residence contract (monthly rent, lump sum rental deposit) is not in your name, you must also provide a "Residence Confirmation Letter" and a copy of the contract holder's ID (front and back).
- Bank account statement to prove financial capability (must show at least 16 million KRW or 8 million KRW for "in-house" language program changes)
- Service fee of 130,000 KRW
- Certificate of degree verified with an apostille, consular confirmation, or certification from the Chinese Ministry of Education
- Attendance certificate for language program students (issued by the Office of International Affairs for in-house language program students)
- Certificate of tuition payment – After paying the tuition, you can print the receipt directly from the tuition payment notification website and submit it.
Notification of Change of Residence (Change of Registered Information)
If not reported within the specified period, a fine will be imposed.
- Application Period: Within 14 days from the date of change
- Application Method: Apply in person at the immigration office (make a reservation through HiKorea)
- Materials required: Completed Application Form, Passport, Alien Registration Card, and documents providing evidence of the change of registered information (e.g., lease agreement).
Time-based Employment Permit
If caught after failing to report entry or exit, you may face fines and be subject to forced deportation.
- Target: D-2 and D-4 visa-holding international students (D-4 visa holders are eligible for a permit six months after entry).
- Permitted Fields: Translation and interpretation, assisting in food service and duty-free shops, general office assistance, tourist information assistance, etc. (Manufacturing is not allowed).
- Permitted Hours
- Language training: Up to 25 hours per week
- Undergraduate programs: Up to 30 hours per week
- Master's and doctoral programs: Up to 35 hours per week
Degree program students (undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students) are exempt from weekly hour limits during weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and vacation periods.
Language training (D-4 visa holders) is only eligible after 6 months of foreigner registration.
- Application Method: Apply in person at the Immigration Office or online through Hi Korea (www.hikorea.go.kr).
- Required Documents: Integrated application form, time-based employment certificate, copy of the employer's business registration, employment contract, passport, alien registration card, grade or attendance certificate, TOPIK certificate.
The time-based employment certificate requires the signature of the supervisor (bring the necessary documents when visiting for the signature).
Time-based employment is available to those with a minimum of TOPIK Level 2 for language training, TOPIK Level 3 for the first and second-year undergraduates, and TOPIK Level 4 for third and fourth-year undergraduates and master's/doctoral students (those without TOPIK qualifications should inquire separately).
- Note: Students with an attendance rate below 90% in the previous semester and a GPA below C (2.0) may be denied.
